ZEW Summer Workshop

The general topic of this workshop is "EMU Enlargement". The workshop is meant to provide a forum for discussions between young talented researchers and distinguished experts in their field of research. The programme consists of lectures by experienced researchers and presentations of young scholars on the first three days. Extensive time will be provided for discussions among participants. The workshop will be completed by a visit to the Deutsche Bundesbank on June 10, 2005.

<HTML>Call for Papers</HTML>
The participants will be required to present a paper during the workshop. We invite submissions of empirical and theoretical papers from economics.

Adequate papers could include topics such as:
- Monetary policy strategy and institutional design;
- exchange rate policy;
- financial markets development and structure;
- real effects of the enlarged monetary union.

Participants may apply to the ZEW for financial assistance for travel and accomodation costs.Application: Please submit the paper to be presented, a curriculum vitae specifically outlining your research, and one letter of reference relating to your research.

<HTML>Heinz-König-Young-Scholar-Award</HTML>
The Heinz-König-Young-Scholar-Award is given to scholars under 35 years of age for the most outstanding paper presented at the ZEW Summer Workshop. The award has been established with the support of FUCHS PETROLUB AG and consists of a prize of 5,000 Euro and, in addition, a three months’ residential fellowship at the ZEW covering travel and accommodation costs. The winner is announced at the end of the ZEW Summer Workshop. The prize is named after the ZEW´s late founding research director Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Heinz König who strongly shaped the ZEW’s scientific achievements.
