MaCCI Annual Conference 2026

Conference

The Mannheim Centre for Competition and Innovation (MaCCI), a joint initiative between ZEW Mannheim and the University of Mannheim, is pleased to announce its 2026 Annual Conference. The conference will take place on 19 and 20 March in Mannheim, Germany. The aim of the conference is to provide a platform for exchange and discussion on topics in competition- and innovation-related research between academic researchers and practitioners in public authorities, legal counsel, and economic consultancies. The conference will start at 9 am on 19 March and conclude at 3 pm on 20 March.

The conference will comprise two keynote lectures and parallel sessions consisting of contributed and organised sessions. For the contributed sessions, submissions of theoretical, empirical, as well as case-oriented papers on competition economics, competition law, and related areas (regulated industries, competition and innovation, …) are welcome. In particular, we invite legal scholars to submit papers focusing on EU competition or comparative competition law. The 2026 MaCCI Annual Conference will be held in person, starting on 19 March at 9 am and ending on 20 March at 3 pm.

All individual submissions must include the following information: an abstract of up to 200 words, the author’s full name and affiliation, as well as contact details. Please submit only full papers (incomplete drafts are welcome). We also encourage submissions of full sessions. Any such proposal must include a short session abstract and the papers (or extended abstracts thereof) to be presented in the session itself. Typically, a session comprises three papers and all presenters should have confirmed their willingness to participate.

All proposals must be written in English and shall be submitted to the organising committee via MacciAnnual2026@zew.de as a PDF file no later than 15 November 2025. Participants interested in discussing a paper without presenting should send a message to the organising committee (MacciAnnual2026@zew.de).

Authors of accepted papers will be notified no later than 15 December 2025. Presenters must register by 15 January 2026 and are expected to discuss another paper. Young researchers are particularly encouraged to submit papers.

The non-refundable conference fee is €150 for participants from academia and the public sector and €300 for participants from the private sector.
