The project measures and analyses the innovation performance of countries based on indicators, using an indicator system which represents all major functions and processes that are relevant for the development, introduction and commercialisation of innovations. At the same time, two further aspects that are critical for the innovativeness of economies are captured by separate indicator system. This includes (a) the ability to develop and deploy key enabling technologies (digital technologies, biotechnology, production technologies, energy technologies, material technologies, technologies for a circular economy), and (b) the sustainability of economic activities. The project is managed by the Fraunhofer-Institute for System and Innovation Research (ISI).
