On average, attending a grammar school improves academic performance and increases the likelihood of going on to university. This raises the question of how school places are allocated and what consequences these decisions have for educational pathways and equality of opportunity. Prof. Dr Thilo Klein, a researcher in the ZEW’s “Market Design” research department, discusses this with two pupils from the Bach-Gymnasium in Mannheim in the latest episode of the ZEW podcast “Wirklich Wirtschaft”.
