This podcast episode's thumbnail in German.

Equal opportunities are regarded as a core value of modern societies – but how significant is their influence on economic success? A new ZEW study shows that when educational opportunities are distributed more fairly and people can advance regardless of their background, it benefits not only the individual but also the innovative capacity of entire regions. Guido Neidhöfer explains why this is the case. He is a researcher in the ZEW Research Department “Labour Markets and Social Security” and recently published an article on this topic in the highly renowned scientific journal Nature.
