Climate Protection, Responsible Economic Activity and Good Working Conditions

The ZEW’s 2025 Sustainability Report provides an overview of measures relating to climate protection, responsible business practices and good working conditions within the framework of the Klimawin initiative.

ZEW Mannheim has published its latest sustainability report. The report is issued annually within the KLIMAWIN reporting framework of the State of Baden-Württemberg and provides a concise overview of the institute’s key measures and developments in the field of sustainability.

This is the seventh sustainability report published by ZEW. By participating in the KLIMAWIN initiative, the institute commits itself to the twelve guiding principles for sustainable and climate-conscious economic activity. It regularly documents its progress and publishes reports.

ZEW continues to focus on climate protection measures as well as the promotion of employee rights and well-being. ZEW presents an updated greenhouse gas inventory and outlines measures to reduce indirect emissions resulting from energy and heat consumption. Emphasis is placed on the long-term energy efficiency of ZEW’s building and technical infrastructure. These efforts include, among others, optimisations in building operations, energy-efficient lighting and measures regarding IT.

Another key priority is the continued promotion of good working conditions and employee health. Initiatives for sustainable mobility, opportunities for a healthy work environment, as well as measures to foster resilience and communication are important elements of this commitment.

ZEW Commits to Economic, Ecological and Social Responsibility

ZEW is aware of the environmental, economic and social impacts of its activities and is firmly committed to climate action and sustainability. With its sustainability report, ZEW is making its strategically embedded commitment in this area transparent and fulfilling its sustainability reporting obligation.

About Klimawin

Klimawin was launched in 2014 as part of the sustainability strategy of the state of Baden-Württemberg as a tool for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) operating sustainably. Large companies and corporate groups now also use this practical sustainability management system. It is based on voluntary commitment, personal initiative and transparent communication. Klimawin’s key focus areas are aligned with the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and provide a comprehensive framework for reporting on climate protection and sustainability measures.
