Macroeconomic Qualification Programme MPS+ Successfully Concluded

Strengthening Macroeconomic Policies (MPS+)

Experts and executives from government institutions from China, Burma, and Vietnam successfully concluded the qualification programme “Strengthening Macroeconomic Policies” (MPS+) at the Centre for European Economic Research (ZEW) in Mannheim, Germany. After ten weeks of intensive training, the participants were handed out their certificates by ZEW President Wolfgang Franz in a ceremony on November 15, 2012.

The macroeconomic training courses included lectures, discussion panels, group work, and working on case studies. Lectures by experienced practitioners  and visits to relevant institutions such as the European Central Bank (ECB) and the KfW Bankengruppe were also part of the programme. In addition, the participants attended English courses and individual language trainings. With the support of ZEW researchers and language teachers, they wrote a scientific paper which compared discussed the structures and developments in their home countries and those in Germany and Europe.

The MPS+ programme has already been organised for the fourth time on behalf of the Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH. The programme is supervised by ZEW’s Service Department “Knowledge Transfer & Qualification Programmes”. Apart from international qualification programmes, the Service Department also offers seminars and custom-tailored training courses for firms and institutions.
