Food for Thought – New Brussels-Based ZEW Lunch Debate Series Starts in March 2014

ZEW Lunch Debate in Brussels

How can we overcome the current economic crisis in Europe? What is the path towards smart, sustainable and inclusive growth? To meet these key policy challenges for Europe, an in-depth understanding of the causes and the impact of the crisis is required. We also need innovative ideas to foster economic growth and to overcome economic divergence within Europe. This is what ZEW’s new Lunch Debate series is about: Experts come together for a discussion over lunch on current economic challenges in Europe. The series provides a platform for controversial, open, and committed discussion.

With these events we aim to encourage debate on major economic issues: a ZEW economist delivers an introductory statement to the debate’s topic, an external expert gives a response. The audience is invited to contribute their expertise. The events take place at the Representation of the State of Baden-Württemberg to the European Union in Brussels four times a year. The first ZEW Lunch Debate takes place on March 18, 2014, featuring an introduction by ZEW’s President Professor Clemens Fuest. Participation is by personal invitation only; please get in touch with Dr. Daniela Heimberger (heimberger@zew.de) for enquiries.
