Update 2008 of the Country Index for Family Enterprises

Update 2008 of the Country Index for Family Enterprises

In the year 2006 on behalf of the Stiftung Familienunternehmen ZEW has developed the Country Index for Family Enterprises. The objective of that index is an international comparison of investment locations from the perspective of family enterprises. The results indicated that Germany only ranked 11 among 14 included countries. Unfavourable rankings on the fields of regulatory burden, labour markets and taxation were behind that poor placing. In this project, the Country index is now expanded through the inclusion of further countries and additional location factors. Among others the analysis is no longer confined to the tax burden of a country. In addition, the quality of public infrastructure is taken into account.
