ZEW Centre for European Economic Research, MaCCI Mannheim Centre for Competition and Innovation and University of Mannheim are pleased to announce their conference "Platform Markets: Regulation and Competition Policy". The objective of the conference is to stimulate discussion between academic researchers and professionals in markets involving multi-sided platforms. Theoretical, empirical as well as policy-oriented articles are welcome.

The topics of interest include the strategies, governance, regulation and antitrust issues of:

  • Network externalities and standards
  • Advertising media and online content
  • Price discrimination, bundling, dynamic pricing, versioning
  • E-commerce, online-auctions, open source development

The conference will start with lunch on Monday. In the evening MaCCI is holding a reception. A conference dinner will be offered on Tuesday. The conference closes on Wednesday after lunch.

Deadlines: Submission deadline: January 31, 2010. Notifications on acceptance not later than March 1, 2010. Participants presenting a paper are asked to submit a full text version not later than April 29, 2010. Registration deadline: April 29, 2010.The conference fee is EUR 160 which covers meals and refreshments. For participants who present a paper the conference fee is waived and accommodation is offered. In addition, ZEW will offer a limited number of grants for travel expenses.
