[ D] As is widely known, on a competitive market an arbitrary emissions standard can be attained with minimal costs through a system of emissions permits. Identifying the magnitudes of cost-savings by permit systems such as the EU-internal emissions trading scheme has been a focus of our research for a long time. Furthermore, the effects of various institutional settings on the cost-savings are analysed.
