ZEW’s Scientific Advisory Council Holds First Session with New Members

ZEW Scientific Advisory Board meets with new members.

On 29 February 2024, ZEW Mannheim’s Scientific Advisory Council held its first meeting of the year under new membership. Effective 1 February 2024, the Ministry of Science, Research and Arts Baden-Württemberg appointed four new members hailing from Italy, the Netherlands and Germany. Two existing members also had their terms of office extended.

The newly appointed members are: Professor Özlem Bedre-Defolie from the European University Institute (EUI) in Florence, Italy; Professor Jakob De Haan from the University of Groningen in the Netherlands; Professor Leonie Sundmacher from the Technical University of Munich; and Professor Massimo Tavoni from the European Institute on Economics and the Environment (EIEE) in Milan, Italy. Tenancy was extended for Professor Ottmar Edenhofer from the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK) and Professor Dietmar Harhoff from the Max Planck Institute for Innovation and Competition.

The other remaining members of the Scientific Advisory Council are: Professor Bernd Fitzenberger from the Institute for Employment Research (IAB) of the Federal Employment Agency in Nuremberg; Professor Axel Ockenfels from the University of Cologne; Professor Jörg Rocholl from the European School of Management and Technology (ESMT) in Berlin; and Professor Monika Schnitzer from LMU Munich. Professor Kai Konrad from the Max Planck Institute for Tax Law and Public Finance continues as chair, while Professor Nadine Riedel from the University of Münster stays on as deputy chair.
