New ZEW Forecast Survey Published

Research

Nineteen banks participated in the January 2016 ZEW Forecast Survey. Forecasts were submitted until December 22, 2015. The three-month DAX forecasts (German Share Index) remain positive. The surveyed institutes predicted DAX scores within a range of 11,000 and 11,900 points. This is the finding of the ZEW Forecast Survey published on a quarterly basis by ZEW and Börsen-Zeitung.

The 19 banks were also surveyed in regard to the Dow Jones STOXX Europe 50 index, the USD/EUR exchange rate, the development of short- and long-term interest rates in the eurozone, as well as the oil price (brent, London).  In each case, forecasts are provided for the next three, and the next six months.

The ZEW Forecast Survey has been carried out on a quarterly basis since the beginning of 2001. The objective of the ZEW Forecast Survey is to provide the public with a representative overview of the financial market forecasts given by banks operating in Germany, as well as of the quality of these forecasts. At the beginning of each quarter, the current forecasts, along with evaluations of their quality, are published in the Börsen-Zeitung.
