Delegation from the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Science Visits ZEW

Guests at ZEW

On February 22, 2016, a six-person delegation from the Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts of the State of Baden-Württemberg (MWK) visited the Centre for European Economic Research (ZEW) in Mannheim. During an intensive exchange of information, the visiting group from Dr. Helmut Messer, division head at MWK, gained insight into the activities and research areas focused on at ZEW.

ZEW Director of Business and Administration, Thomas Kohl, welcomed the delegation and provided an overview of the work carried out by ZEW. Dominik Rehse, a ZEW researcher, then presented the ZEW Financial Market Survey, an example of a project carried out by the Research Department "International Finance and Financial Management". The ZEW Financial Market Survey has been completed on a monthly basis since 1991. Around 300 experts from the fields of banking, insurance and finance from selected large corporations are surveyed about their economic expectations. The results are used, amongst other things, to calculate the ZEW Indicator of Economic Sentiment, an indicator which is eagerly anticipated by the press each month.
