Zareh Asatryan is a senior researcher in ZEW’s Research Department “Corporate Taxation and Public Finance”, and a post-doctoral researcher at the University of Mannheim. He completed his doctorate, graded summa cum laude, with his dissertation on “Direct Democracy and Local Public Finances in Germany” at the University of Freiburg in October 2015.

Zareh Asatryan holds a Master’s degree in economics and management science from the Humboldt University of Berlin and a Bachelor’s degree in applied mathematics and statistics from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. Prior to embarking on his post-graduate studies, he worked at the Ministry of Economy of Armenia as a researcher. Currently he co-leads the Armenian Economic Association.

Zareh Asatryan's primary research interests are public finance, political economics, development economics, and applied micro-econometrics.
