Since October 2014, Verena Wondratschek is an Assistant Professor for Applied Microeconomics at the Johannes Gutenberg-University Mainz and a Research Associate at ZEW. Before that, she has been working as a researcher at ZEW's Research Department "Labour Markets, Human Resources and Social Policy" for six years. During this time, she finished her dissertation in economics at the Center for Doctoral Studies in Economics at the University of Mannheim. Verena Wondratschek is a fellow of the College for Interdisciplinary Educational Research.

Her research interests lie in the fields of labour economics, the economics of education and programme evaluation. More specifically, she is interested in the importance of different dimensions of an individual's human capital for success on the labour market and in the effects of educational institutions on children's skill development.
