Katrin Cremers studied economics at the Technical University of Dresden and the University of Mannheim in Germany. During her studies, she focused on industrial organisation as well as social and private insurance systems. After completing her diploma thesis at the University of California, Berkeley, she received her diploma degree from the University of Mannheim in 1996.
Since March 1996 she has been working as a researcher at the Centre for European Economic Research (ZEW), Department of Industrial Economics and International Management. Her main research interests are the economics of innovation, law and economics, and the economics of intellectual property rights. She conducted studies on the valuation of patent rights and carried out an analysis of patent litigation cases.
In October 2006 Mrs Cremers finished her Ph.D. with her doctoral thesis on "Incidence, Settlement and Resolution of Patent Litigation Suits in Germany".
