Coronavirus – The German Economy Under Pressure
#ZEWliveHow to Deal with the Consequences?
Fears of recession, production stops, drop in demand, short-time work schemes, interest rate cuts, collapsing oil prices, and uncertainty on the financial markets – the coronavirus pandemic has serious effects on the German economy as public life has largely come to a standstill.
This does, of course, also affect the ZEW event series “First-Hand Information on Economic Policy”. However, the crisis does not stop us from continuing to offer a forum for exchange and reliably provide information. For that reason, we are happy to announce the digital event #ZEWlive, which can be attended via the video conferencing service Zoom.
After an impulse speech by ZEW President Professor Achim Wambach (@AchimWambach), he and Dr. Ralf Krieger (CFO at Freudenberg SE) will discuss the effects of the pandemic on the German economy, as well as the measures taken by the German federal and state governments. Which sectors and industries are particularly affected? How does the coronavirus crisis differ from previous economic crises? Do the adopted economic policy measures suffice? And what is the way out of the crisis? These are questions that concern us all. TV and radio journalist Elif Senel (@ElifEsraSenel) will moderate the discussion. What follows is a direct exchange with the audience – you can send your questions in advance to event@zew.de or ask them directly in Zoom (via chat).
All you need is an Internet-ready device with sound function. Prior registration with Zoom is not necessary.
