Prof. Dr. Irene Bertschek

Irene Bertschek studied Economics at the University of Mannheim and at the Catholic University of Louvain, Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium, focussing on industrial economics and econometrics. She attended the European Doctoral Program and obtained a doctoral degree in economics from the Catholic University of Louvain. During the doctoral program she visited CREST-INSEE in Paris and worked at the SFB373 of the Humboldt University in Berlin. She joined the Centre for European Economic Research (ZEW) in 1999. Since May 2001 she has been head of the research group Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). Since February 2011 she has been professor for economics, applied empirical economic research at the University of Mannheim. Her current research interests are the impacts of ICT on labour productivity, on workplace organisation, and on the age structure of employees.
