MACCI Law and Economics Conference on New Media: Industry Development and Public Policy

The lectures and panel discussions at this event address issues of media convergence from an economic and legal point of view. The first day of the conference will be devoted to regulatory questions and competition law concerning private media. Lorena Boix Alonso (European Commission), Thomas Langheinrich (Media Broadcasting Authority of the State of Baden-Württemberg), Steve Gettings (OFCOM – TBC), and Markus Mobius (Microsoft Research) will sit on the high-profile panel.

On the second day, discussions will focus on economic and legal issues in the online environment facing public service broadcasting. The panel of distinguished experts will include Helen Weeds (University of Essex), Dieter Dörr (Johannes Gutenberg University), Robert Amlung (ZDF), and Damian Tambini (LSE London).

The conference is organised by the Mannheim Centre for Competition and Innovation (MaCCI). MaCCI is a collaboration of the School of Law and Economics at the University of Mannheim and the Centre for European Economic Research (ZEW). As part of the Mannheim Leibniz ScienceCampus, MaCCI receives funding from the Leibniz Association. The conference takes place within ZEW premises.
