The Impact of Immigration: Fact, Fiction, and Perception
ZEW Lectures on Economic PolicyThe talk provides a brief overview of international migration and its changes over the past decades. The challenges in identifying the effects immigration has on natives’ wages and employment are pointed out and illustrated with ongoing research projects. The question is asked whether - even if we knew what effects immigration has on labor markets - such knowledge would be important for individuals to form their views on what the optimal migration policy should be. Results from work done at CReAM regarding this issue are presented.
