17th Spring Meeting of Young Economists (SMYE 2012)

Conference

The Centre for European Economic Research (ZEW) is delighted to host the 17th Spring Meeting of Young Economists (SMYE).The Spring Meeting of Young Economists is intended to give non-tenured young economists such as PhD students, post-docs, assistant professors, and equivalents a chance to meet, present and discuss their work.

The conference is organised by young economists for young economists and covers the whole spectrum of economic endeavour. All participants are given an opportunity to present their research and are encouraged to exchange ideas which are directly or indirectly related to their research and to the work of their fellow economists.

The SMYE is an annually held conference which started out as a small gathering of economists at the University of Essen in 1996. Since then, it has expanded rapidly and received up to 800 applications in the last years. To maintain a relaxed atmosphere and prevent the anonymity large conferences might suffer from, the number of presenters will not exceed 200.

The 17th Spring Meeting of Young Economists is sponsored by Fritz Thyssen Foundation and European Central Bank.
