    Professor Frans de Vries, PhD, and Bouwe Dijkstra, PhD, were visiting researchers at ZEW's Research Department "Environmental and Resource Economics, Environmental Management" from December 10 to 12, 2013. Frans de Vries is Professor in Economics with the Management School of the University of Stirling (UK). His research interests are at the intersection of environmental economics, the economics of technological innovation and industrial organization. Bouwe Dijkstra is Associate Professor with the School of Economics of the University of Nottingham (UK). His main interest is in environmental economics, particularly instruments of environmental policy, eco-innovation, political economy aspects as well as international trade and capital flows. During their stay, they were collaborating with ZEW researchers on a project on policy-induced stimulation of environmental R&D.

    Prof. Ricardo A. Daziano, PhD, was a visiting researcher at ZEW’s Research Department "Environmental and Resource Economics, Environmental Management" from December 9 to 13, 2013. He is assistant professor and David Croll Fellow at the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Cornell University, US. His research focuses on theoretical and applied econometrics of consumer behaviour, specifically on discrete choice models applied to technological innovation and transportation demand. During his visit at ZEW, he primarily conducted empirical research with choice data from a survey among potential car buyers in China.

    Professor Yossi Spiegel, PhD, and Dan Aks are visiting researchers at ZEW’s Research Department "Industrial Economics and International Management" from November 28 to December 6, 2013. Yossi Spiegel is professor for strategy, economics, and finance at the management faculty of Tel Aviv University, Israel, and ZEW Research Associate. His main research interests are industrial organisation, economics of regulation, corporate finance, and political economy. Dan Aks is research assistant at the management faculty of Tel Aviv University. During their stay, they will be collaborating with ZEW researchers on a project on vertical mergers and minority shareholdings between upstream and downstream firms.

Currently, she is a Research Fellow at the Oxford University Centre for Business Taxation. Her research focuses on public economics, in particular on corporate taxation and finance. During her stay, she worked with ZEW President Prof. Clemens Fuest on a paper regarding tax reforms in China.

    Dr. Volodymyr Bilotkach was visiting reseacher at ZEW’s Research Group "Competition and Regulation" from October 7-11, 2013. He is senior lecturer in economics at Newcastle University Business School, UK. He also advised the Netherlands Competition Authority and the European Commission on policy issues in the aviation sector. His research focuses on the aviation sector of economy. During his stay, he worked together with ZEW researchers on projects addressing competition processes in aviation markets. He also held a ZEW Research Seminar titled "Market-Sharing Agreements: Empirical Evidence from the US Airline Industry" on October 10, 2013.

    Professor Robert Feinberg, PhD, was visiting researcher at ZEW's Research Group "Competition and Regulation" from September 18-19, 2013. He serves as Economics Department Chair at American University in Washington, D.C., and served as an economist with the Antitrust Division of the Department of Justice and the International Trade Commission. He was a Fulbright Scholar at the University of Limerick, Ireland, and Program Director for Economics at the National Science Foundation (NSF). He is a past President of the Industrial Organization Society, and is co-editor of the Southern Economic Journal. During his stay at ZEW, he held a lecture titled "Does State Antitrust Enforcement Drive Establishment Exit?" at the Mannheim Competition Policy Forum on September 19, 2013. Moreover, Robert Feinberg and ZEW researchers explored options for future co-operation.

    Weiqi Tang, PhD, is visiting researcher at ZEW’s Research Department “Environmental and Resource Economics, Environmental Management” on a one-year scholarship from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) beginning in September 2013. Weiqi Tang is a researcher at the Center for Energy Economics and Strategy Studies at Fudan University in Shanghai, China. During his stay at ZEW, he will develop an interregional CGE model for China and explore transition paths and policy options for China to become a low carbon economy.

    Dr. Frank Bohn was visiting researcher at ZEW's Research Department "Corporate Taxation and Public Finance" from July 29-31, 2013. He is Assistant Professor at the economics and business economics department at Radboud University Nijmegen in the Netherlands. His research interests are public finance, monetary economics and international economics incorporating political instability, corruption, rent-seeking, time-inconsistency, disinformation and/or political budget and forecast cycles. During his stay, Frank Bohn worked together with ZEW researchers on the impact of culture on the fiscal and monetary crises in Europe. Furthermore, he held a ZEW Research Seminar on rationality and biases in an electoral forecast cycle model.

    Claudi Hitaj, PhD, is a visiting researcher at ZEW’s Research Department "Environmental and Resource Economics, Environmental Management" from July 8 to August 2, 2013. She is a member of the agricultural and resource economics faculty of the University of Maryland. Her research focuses on energy economics, environmental and resource economics, renewable energy policy, and applied econometrics. During her stay, she is working on research addressing wind power development in Germany. On July 18, 2013, Claudia Hitaji held a ZEW Research Seminar on "Renewable Power Effects on Electricity Transmission Congestion and Emissions."
