    Professor Dr. Anna Salomons and Professor Maarten Goos, PhD, are visiting researchers with ZEW’s Research Department “Labour Markets, Human Resources and Social Policy” from June 1 to July 31, 2014. Anna Salomons is Assistant Professor at Utrecht University in the Netherlands. Her research interests are in the field of labour economics. Maarten Goos is Associate Professor at the Catholic University of Leuven in Belgium. His research and teaching activities focus on the economics of technological change and innovation. During their stay, they will be working together with ZEW researchers on the SEEK research project “Can Task-Biased Technological Change Explain Changes in Regional Labour Market Disparities?”

    Dr. Nicolas de Roos was visiting researcher with ZEW’s Research Group "Competition and Regulation" from April 29 to May 2, 2014. He is senior lecturer with the School of Economics at the University of Sydney in Australia. His research interests are in the areas of applied microeconomic theory, dynamic models, and industrial organisation. During his stay, he held a lecture titled "Collusion with Intertemporal Price Dispersion" at the Mannheim Competition Policy Forum. Moreover, Nicolas de Roos and ZEW researchers explored options for future co-operation.

    Maria Victoria Román de Lara was a visiting researcher at ZEW’s Research Department "Environmental and Resource Economics, Environmental Management" from March 1 to April 15, 2014. She is a junior researcher and a PhD student at the Basque Centre for Climate Change (BC3) in Spain. During her stay, she worked closely with ZEW researchers on a theoretical model of the welfare effects of different international funding instruments. She supported its calibration and the calculation of compensations demanded by some developing countries in order to raise their current ambitions in climate change objectives.

    Dr. Ling Yang is visiting researcher at ZEW’s Research Department "Environmental and Resource Economics, Environmental Management" on a one-year scholarship from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation beginning in March 2014. Dr. Ling Yang is assistant professor at the Xi'an Jiatong University in China. During her stay at ZEW, she will collaborate closely with Prof. Andreas Löschel on the regional effects of carbon abatement in China.

    Anna Dellarole is a visiting researcher at ZEW’s Research Department "Environmental and Resource Economics, Environmental Management" from February 1 to July 31, 2014. She is a PhD student at the University of Milan in the inter-university doctoral school "Lombardy Advanced School of Economic Research”, founded by the Universities of Bergamo, Brescia, Milan, and Pavia. During her stay, Anna Dellarole is working together with ZEW researchers on large-scale forward-looking computable general equilibrium (CGE) models and the implementation of sector-specific climate adaptation policies in CGE models.

    Nicolas Classen, PhD, was a visiting researcher at ZEW’s Research Department "Industrial Economics and International Management"on February 4 and 5, 2014. He is Assistant Professor of Entrepreneurship at the Department of Strategic Management and Entrepreneurship, Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University, in the Netherlands. His broad research interests include family business, entrepreneurship and innovation. The emphasis of his work has been on how the involvement of a dominant family influences the strategic behaviour and performance of an organisation. During his stay at ZEW, he worked on a joint project with data from the Mannheim Innovation Panel (MIP).

    Dr. Jan Hogrefe, researcher with ZEW's Research Group "Growth and Business Cycles", has been awarded the "2013 Research Award Social Market Economy" (Forschungspreis Soziale Marktwirtschaft 2013) sponsored by the Bavarian Industry Association (Vereinigung der Bayerischen Wirtschaft - vbw). The award-winning work explores the structure and effects of international trade and addresses the institutional and social policy challenges for the German labour market. The research award is bestowed annually by vbw’s market economy committee and honours up-and-coming researchers who focus on the sustainable development of the social market economy in their doctoral or habilitation thesis.

    Prof. Dr. Xiaohu Feng will visit ZEW from February 3 to 7, 2014. He is Professor at the University of International Business and Economics (UIBE) in Beijing and Director Assistant of the Institute of Global Low-carbon Economy (IGLCE) in China. His research interests encompass linguistics, philosophy and German studies. In this context, he examines climate-friendly innovations from a philosophical point of view. His stay at ZEW will focus on deepening the cooperation of ZEW’s Research Departments “Industrial Economics and International Management” as well as “Environmental and Resource Economics, Environmental Management” with Chinese institutions. Furthermore, Prof. Feng will work on the conception of a joint UIBE-ZEW training programme for Chinese managers and executives.

His research interests cover input output analyses with a special focus on environmental issues.     Dr. Bernhard Dachs and Martina Dünser were visiting researchers at ZEW's Research Department "Industrial Economics and International Management" on January 13 and 14, 2014. Bernhard Dachs is senior scientist at the Innovation Systems Department of AIT Austrian Institute of Technology. His research focuses on the economics of innovation and technological change, in particular with regard to the internationalisation of R&D. Martina Dünser is a research associate at AIT. Her special interests lie in the field of econometrics and quantitative data analysis. During their stay, they worked together with ZEW researchers on the joint project "Study on Firm Growth, Innovation and the Business Cycle" within the European Competitiveness Report 2014.
