    Steven Vanhaverbeke was a visiting researcher at ZEW’s Research Department "Industrial Economics and International Management" from January 12 to 26, 2015. He is a doctoral student at the Department of Managerial Economics, Strategy and Innovation (MSI) at KU Leuven. His research interests lie in the field of innovation, economics of information, and accounting and finance. During his stay in Mannheim, he worked together with ZEW researchers in a project on the impact of data disclosure statements for annual accounts.

    The president of the Centre for European Economic Research (ZEW), Professor Clemens Fuest, has been appointed to the Minimum Wage Commission, which starts work on January 1, 2015. Professor Fuest sits on the commission as an advising scientific member. The nine-member committee was appointed by the federal government.

    Bouwe Dijkstra, PhD, was a visiting researcher at ZEW’s Research Department “Environmental and Resource Economics, Environmental Management” from December 7 to 11, 2014. He is associate professor with the School of Economics at the University of Nottingham, UK. Furthermore he is an internal research fellow of the Leverhulme Centre for Research on Globalisation and Economic Policy (GEP) and a CESifo Research Network Fellow. His research interests lie in the fields of political economy and environmental economics. During his stay, he held a ZEW Research Seminar on mechanisms for coordinating decisions of consumers and producers of public goods.

    Professor Isabel Busom, PhD, was a visiting researcher at ZEW’s Research Department “Industrial Economics and International Management” from November 17 to 21, 2014. She is professor at the department for applied economics at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, Spain. Her research interests lie in the field of innovation economics, in particular R&D subsidies and R&D tax credits. During her stay at ZEW, she held a presentation with a subsequent discussion, showing preliminary results on the dynamics of R&D subsidies and tax credits. She also attended the ZEW conference on National Systems of Entrepreneurship.

    Professor Bas Jacobs, PhD, was a visiting researcher at ZEW's Research Group "International Distribution and Redistribution" from November 19 to 21, 2014. He is professor of economics and public finance at Erasmus University Rotterdam in the Netherlands. Professor Jacobs is an associate editor of the journal FinanzArchiv, member of the economist's panels of BNR and MeJudice, jury member of the Netherlands Ministry of Finance Thesis Prize and member of the advisory board of the Norwegian Center of Taxation. His research crosses the borders of public finance, optimal taxation, welfare economics, macroeconomics, human capital theory, and labour economics. During his stay, he held a ZEW Research Seminar on optimal capital taxation when individuals have different rates of return.

    Arvid Hoffmann, PhD, was a visiting researcher at ZEW's Research Department "International Finance and Financial Management" from November 8 to 21, 2014. He is an Assistant Professor of Finance at Maastricht University, the Netherlands, where he also serves as Co-Director of the Marketing-Finance Research Lab and the Marketing-Finance Company Circle. His interdisciplinary research interests bridge the fields of marketing and finance. In particular, he is interested in behavioural and experimental finance, consumer financial decision-making, financial services marketing, household finance, and individual investor behaviour. During his stay, he held a ZEW Research Seminar on behavioural aspects of consumer financial decision-making.
