The economic expectations of financial market experts, which are surveyed by ZEW on a monthly basis, has not worsened since mid-October and are thus below the historical average. Based on the information currently available, it seems that the downward adjustments in the expectations regarding the economic development have come to an end. Whether this means that we have left the financial market behind us, is, however, questionable,  since not all cards are on the table, and the implications for economics policy are still unclear.

The Minister President of North Rhine-Westphalia and vice-chair of the conservative party CDU, Dr. Jürgen Rüttgers, was quoted as saying: The belief that tax cuts will lead to more investment and more jobs is wrong. The same holds for the statement according to which German wages are too high. In other interviews, however, Rüttgers took a more nuanced view, warning against claims or generalisations that gain a momentum of their own and referring to these as the “lies of life”. Reverse Mortgages | old age provision

Special Question in ZEW Financial Market Survey: Reverse Mortgages in Germany Reverse mortgages are a type of mortgage loan that allows homeowners to receive monthly payments based on the value of their homes while retaining ownership of the property and continuing to live in their homes. This is of particular benefit for pensioners who are given the opportunity to supplement their income during retirement. In contrast to regular mortgages, reverse mortgages allow older people to defer the interest or repayment rates of the loan. Upon the expiration of the contract, borrowers are paid out on the basis of the property value. Homeowners also have the option to repay the credit. First introduced in the United States, reverse mortgages are becoming more and more popular among US citizens. Nevertheless, the overall level of significance in the mortgage market remains low.
