Ruprecht Hammerschmidt is head of the “Press and Editorial Office” team in ZEW’s Communications Department. With his team, he is responsible for the media strategy and ensures ZEW's knowledge transfer and its external impact at both national and international level via modern press and public relations measures. In addition, the team supports the transfer of project results from the institute's research units.
Ruprecht Hammerschmidt studied law with a focus on public law in Hamburg. Following his second state examination, he completed a traineeship at the Georg von Holtzbrinck School for Business Journalists. Positions at WirtschaftsWoche and Berliner Zeitung followed, where he particularly reported on real estate and labour markets. After joining IG Bauen-Agrar-Umwelt as head of the communications department, he was responsible for media coverage of the union's social and collective bargaining objectives.
