Ana Helena Palermo studied economics (M.Sc.) at the University of Freiburg and international relations (B.A.) at the Universidade Federal Fluminense in Niterói, Brazil. Since February 2020 she has been the Advisor to ZEW’s President, Professor Achim Wambach.
She completed her doctorate with a thesis on “Economic effects of basic income and formation of redistribution preferences: A theoretical and experimental investigation” at the Götz Werner Chair (GWP) of Economic Policy and Constitutional Economic Theory at the University of Freiburg, where she is still a member of the Basic Income Research Group (BIRG). She was an associate member of the Collaborative Research Center (CRC) 1015 Otium, a researcher in the projects “Psychology of Unconditional Basic Income” and “The Political Economy of Land Grabbing”, as well as involved in teaching and supervision.
