Development of impact measures for e-Infrastructures

Development of impact measures for e-Infrastructures

The European Commission (EC) and EU Member States are investing in different domains of e-Infrastructures. The aim is to connect researchers, scholars, educators and students through high speed research networks , provide access to distributed computing platforms, develop supercomputing capacity for very demanding applications, support the emergence of a robust platform for access and preservation of scientific information  and of Global Virtual Research Communities. The purpose of the project is to develop a conceptual framework for the ex post evaluation of the impacts of the Commission’s interventions in the e-Infrastructure domain. Based on surveys, statistical analysis, interviews and case studies this framework will be applied to a representative number of projects that are part of the 6th and 7th Framework Program. The project will give recommendations for the implementation of a monitoring system for e-Infrastructures within the EU.
