Period: 01.01.2010 – 31.12.2012

This subproject of the interdisciplinary project "An infrastructure for the analysis of social networks" deals with the economic analysis of social links in online networks. It considers networks for entertaining social relations as well as interactive online markets (e.g. including evaluation and recommendation systems) and wikis. The goal of the project is to study knowledge acquistion in exemplary contexts and to draw a comparison with complementary analyses from psychology. Moreover, the project develops in cooperation with computer scientists a technical infrastructure that allows to explore large data sets in a flexible way and to make them accessible to social science analysis.Through this project the ZEW is associated with the Leibniz-ScienceCampus Tübingen.
