The research project was concerned with the growing field of online banking and internet-usage in the credit sector. The first main objective was to elaborate the most important characteristics of internet offers in the credit business. The analysis distinguishes between different market sectors, especially between real estate, business and consumer credit. Subsequently it was asked how far business strategies and labour process organization in traditional credit business and in online banking differ. Particular emphasis was paid to the potential to raise labour productivity and to lower production costs by standardising operating procedures in the online credit business. Eventually - concluding the first part of the project - the current state of development of the German market for online credit was analysed and perspectives for future development have been worked out.
