Determinants of Welfare State Moral

Besides hard eonomic facts, cultural factors and social norms find increasing attention in eonomic analyses to foster the full understanding of many micro- and macroeconomic phenomena. This also holds for the effectiveness of the welfare state where social norms should be of importance. So far the academic literature has largely neglected “welfare state moral” which can be described as the generally accepted implicit rules for the acceptance of transfers offers of the welfare state. The project objective is to identify the drivers of welfare state moral and to contribute to understanding its dynamics.
