IST (Information Society Technologies) reside among the European Commisions priorities within the Framework Programme structuring European research activities. The project is aimed at an assessment of existing evaluation approaches applied to the IST programme to date. In addition, the plans of the Commission regarding the programmes further development will be closely reviewed and possible modifications proposed. The assessment of the evaluation approaches involves the complete programme cycle starting with the definition of its objectives and the ex ante evaluation of project proposals up to the ex post evaluation of a projects results.
