Digitalisation and Product Innovation in SMEs

The aim of the project is to investigate the use of digitalisation in the context of product innovation in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Germany and Japan. Based on a dedicated survey in both countries, the project analyses the role of product market environment, internal capacities and capabilities of SMEs as well as external relations along the value chain and to science for the introduction of new products that contain digital components.
