Multiple crises of different nature showed in recent years that the social and economic status quo is vulnerable, even in an economically highly developed and seemingly political stable country such as Germany.  Due to constant or abrupt environment changes the interest on the term of "crises resilience" raised strongly. If crises are up to a point inevitable, the question of the country’s capability of resistance and how this resilience can be strengthened (strategy of resilience) comes into the centre of attention. Despite the growing popularity of the term "resilience" in politics it is remarkable that this term remains conceptually imprecise. Against this background this study follows the objective to develop the term of crises resilience in relation to economic and financial crises, as well as to specify it and to determine a method for future quantifications. Furthermore, it should contribute to the interdisciplinary communication on the resilience term. Within this project, first, the resilience term should be specified. Today, other Leibniz Institutes are already using the resilience term in the context of their disciplines. Therefore, it is planned to send out a questionnaire about the resilience term to all institutes that participate in the Leibniz Research Alliance.
