The project investigates the economic importance of trade secrets (TS) and their relationship to intellectual property rights (IR) and other appropriability mechanisms. The study will be composed of two parts: A descriptive part assessing the contribution of TS in the EU economy and an econometric part analyses the determinants of a firm’s usage of TS and IPR.
