The increasing importance of knowledge in the economy leads to a higher demand for high qualified employees in German enterprises. The shift of the qualification structure in the labor force is ongoing. In the light of the demographic development society is faced with the challenge to continuously raise the size of the high qualified workforce.
In this project we will analyze the data of the German Mikrozensus 2000-2012 to figure out the development of the qualification structure of the German labor force and the development of the structure of several subject areas of academics. This will be done for Germany overall and for the German federal states in detail.
