The project analyses human resource strategies of German establishments which are applied to cope with skill shortages. Furthermore, the question is answered whether these strategies are in line with the recommendations of the federal government. Current studies examine the importance of human resource management strategies. Less is known about the quantities of adjustments in human resource management and about the environmental conditions which determine these strategies. The practices of interest are compensation systems, qualification and working time systems. Moreover, adjustments in the recruitment of skilled workers are taken into account.
