Based on a literature research, this project analysed the intergenerational transmission of education in Germany. Results provide information on how and to what extent social background influences educational success and on the role of the educational system. National and international empirical literature focusing on Germany from educational science, economics and social sciences layed the groundwork for this project, supplemented by childhood studies.
