Concerted Action on Transport Pricing Research Integration (CAPRI)

The efforts channelled by CAPRI were initiated in order to process and disseminate the results of various projects on transport pricing that took place under the EC´s fourth framework programme. Both administrative as well as technical support was provided to ensure the integration of methods used and results arrived at on the project, member state and institutional levels. The results of each project were evaluated and summarised, and, as fas as necessary, further qualified. With respect to the calculation methods, the implementation of the results and forging of pricing policy instruments for the transport industry a need for continued research was identified. The scope of the Concerted Action addressed by CAPRI involved management and co-ordination tasks on the one hand, one of which meant setting up an information office for the Commision, and on the other hand research and analytical tasks, such as the assessment and summary of pricing guidelines including the evaluation of externalities taking into account the pricing political framework. The ZEW was mainly concerned with the assessment and summary of results in the area of external cost accounting.
