The research area “Education and Labour Market Outcomes” analyses the causes and economic consequences of investments in education, among others the ongoing expansion of higher education and their consequences for the labour market and the economy. Costs and returns of investments in education are studied from an individual, fiscal and regional perspective. The research in this area also focuses on the design of the allocation of learners to educational institutions, and the effects of this allocation for educational and labour market outcomes, as well as the impacts of upward mobility and equality of opportunity on economic outcomes in Europe.
