China Economic Panel (CEP)
Since July 2013, ZEW Mannheim has been carrying out a survey on the Chinese economy. This China Economic Panel (CEP) gathers data on the current situation of the economy and financial markets and on their expected development. ZEW’s cooperation partners in the CEP is Fudan University, Shanghai, one of China’s leading universities.
ZEW is one of the leading economic research institutes in Europe and is renowned in international research, politics and industry. ZEW has long-standing experience in similar projects. Comparable expert surveys for Germany to gather financial and economic data have been carried out monthly since 1991 with great success. The surveys' results meet with a strong response by professionals, especially in financial centres and are cited by e.g. Bloomberg, Reuters and Dow Jones. Economic data are especially sought after by the general public, as indicated by publications in Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Financial Times or Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung.
Participants of the CEP are international experts on China currently active in the financial, research and economics departments of banks, insurers, investment companies and the industry. The participants are asked about their expectations for various indicators specific to China. The results are aggregated and published.
