ZEW will host an international workshop that will bring together 10 – 15 scholars contributing to the growing literature on social mobility and its relationship with economic performance. We are especially interested in contributions that explore the causes and consequences of changes in the intergenerational transmission of economic status. We also welcome submissions on any topic related to social mobility, the geography of intergenerational mobility and/or mobility in a crosscountry perspective. The workshop is jointly funded by the international research programme SEEK (Strengthening Efficiency and Competitiveness in the European Knowledge Economies) and the D3.2 grant Evidence-Based Anti-Poverty Policies – Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, Milan.
Please note that, while we hope to conduct the workshop in person in Mannheim, due to the ongo-ing COVID-19 pandemic it might be necessary to convert it into an online-only or hybrid event. This decision will be made by February 2021 at the latest, and authors of accepted papers will be informed when recieving the notification of acceptance.
Interested researchers are invited to submit a paper (preliminary versions are welcome) using the following e-mail address: firstname.lastname@example.org. The deadline for submissions is 10 January 2021. Decisions on acceptance will be given by 15 February 2021.
There are no conference fees, but participants are expected to cover their own travel expenses. ZEW will cover accommodation costs for presenters. Limited funds are available to cover also travel expenses for authors of accepted papers. Please indicate in your application whether you will require funding.
