Real Options in Energy Economics

Conference

The department of environmental economics at the Center for European Economic Research (ZEW) is proud to announce that a two-day international conference on "Real Options in Energy Economics" will be held at the ZEW, in Mannheim, Germany on October 27-28, 2008. The conference follows a very successful Symposium on the same topic held earlier this year at our institute for representatives of the German energy industry. This conference aims at giving 12 to 15 researchers from both the academic community and the private sector the opportunity to exchange ideas and discuss their latest results in the field of real option analysis and energy economics. The conference is open to both leading senior experts and young researchers. Theoretical as well as applied contributions are welcome. Topics of interest include:

  • case studies of investment in energy infrastructure, natural resource exploration or energy related portfolio management
  • modeling of production processes with real option analysis
  • theoretical and numerical advances in real option theory applicable to energy economics
  • application of real option theory to energy policy analysis
