Europe's Digital Future: Prospects and Challenges

Customised products and services, flexible working conditions, productivity growth, and increasing prosperity – these are the promises of a digitised and connected economy. How does the performance of the EU and its member states compare to the goals specified in the Digital Agendas at European and national levels? Are the actors on track, or do they get lost in a jungle of initiatives, directives and regulations? What are the prospects for Europe’s industrial sectors and industrial jobs?

This ZEW Lunch Debate addresses the economic aspects of digitisation, the prospects it offers, and the challenges it poses to firms, employees and policy-makers.
