Zareh Asatryan is researcher at ZEW's Research Department "Corporate Taxation and Public Finance". He completed his doctorate (summa cum laude) with the dissertation "Direct Democracy and Local Public Finances in Germany" from the University of Freiburg in October 2015.

Zareh Asatryan holds an Master of Science in Economics and Management Science from Humboldt University of Berlin and a Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics and Statistics from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. Prior to starting his graduate work, he worked at the Ministry of Economy of Armenia as a researcher. Currently he heads the Armenian Economic Association.

Zareh Asatryan's primary research interests are public finance, political economics, development economics, and applied micro-econometrics.
