Thomas Schwab attained his high school diploma at an Austrian Higher Technical College in the fields of IT and Organization. He gained his Bachelor’s degree in economics and social sciences from the Vienna University of Business and Economics (WU Wien). He subsequently pursued his Master’s degree at WU Wien and the Freie Universität Berlin (FU Berlin). In September 2014, he joined the taxation programme of the Center for Doctoral Studies in Business (CDSB) at the Mannheim Graduate School of Economics and Social Sciences (GESS). He is also a member of the Mannheim ScienceCampus (MaTax) for research in the field of taxation.

Since February 2017, Thomas Schwab has been a researcher in ZEW’s Research Department "Corporate Taxation and Public Finance". His research interests are company taxation and public finance.
