Bastian Krieger finished his bachelor’s degree at the Justus-Liebig-University Giessen and spent one semester abroad at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire thanks to the support of the Hessen:Wisconsin Exchange Program. Thereafter, he pursued his master studies as participant in the Justus-Liebig-University Giessen and University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee’s double degree program; majoring in econometrics and industrial organization. His American master’s thesis dealt with the causal relationship between energy consumption and sectorial growth. In his German master’s thesis, he evaluated the effect of legal unbundling on the sabotage incentives of German electricity distribution system operators in co-operation with the ZEW’s Research Group “Competition and Regulation”. In July 2017, he joined ZEW’s Research Department “Economics of Innovation and Industrial Dynamics” as Researcher.
