As a special service, the ZEW makes the data collected in the Mannheim Innovation Panel available free of charge in the form of anonymous data sets, for research and teaching:
This factual anonymised data set can be used for econometric analysis of firms' innovation behaviour.
The data set is available for every survey year.
Recent data are made available three years after the year in which the survey was carried out (i.e. in 2009, data are available for survey years 1993 to 2006 inclusive). It is possible to link data from individual years to a panel data set.
Use of the data is restricted to academic research projects (dissertations, DFG (German Research Foundation) projects etc.).
Academics are first required to sign a contract with the ZEW pertaining to the use of the data.
Over 120 researchers in Germany and abroad have so far taken advantage of our Scientific Use Files.
This fullly anonymised data set is designed for use in teaching, to practice the econometric analysis of firm data
and to address questions relating to the economics of innovation. The fact that the data have been made anonymous limits
to some extent the possibilities of interpreting the content of results drawn from the data. As of the winter semester 2005/06, the surveys from 1999 and 2001 are available
as Education Use Files.
Use of these data is limited to teaching in higher education establishments. The teacher or lecturer of the course wishing
to use the data must first sign a contract with the ZEW pertaining to the use of the data.
The data sets can be ordered in all current standard formats and will be sent out via e-mail or on a CD-Rom or DVD, together with accompanying documentation.
Any commercial use, or use for non-academic purposes, constitutes a breach of contract.
