This year's Heinz König Young Scholar Award goes to Jitao Tang, Teaching Assistant at Rutgers University. Jitao Tang is already the ninth laureate of the award endowed by the Centre for European Economic Research (ZEW) in Mannheim. This time, the award is sponsored by the Günter J. and Christa Grochla Stiftung. It includes an endowment of 5,000 EUR and a three-month research visit to ZEW. read more

The Centre for European Economic Research (ZEW) in Mannheim awarded the Heinz König Young Scholar Award for 2011. This year, the award goes to Anna Watson from the University of Cambridge for her international model of economic activity, which explains the strong volatility of international trade as could be observed, for example, during the recent economic crisis. read more

Sheng is conducting research on the relation between economic uncertainty and the varying economic outlooks by experts. Shen is a lecturer at the American University in Washington D.C.. read more

The Centre for European Economic Research (ZEW) in Mannheim awarded the Heinz König Young Scholar Award for outstanding research papers to young researchers for the sixth time. Christina Felfe of St. Gallen University and Alexander M. Danzer of University of London share this year's award. Felfe receives the award for her analysis whether mothers return to their job after parental leave when the working atmosphere is good. Danzer receives the award for the empirical proof that employees cannot protect themselves from unexpected short-term wage cutbacks. read more

The Centre for European Economic Research (ZEW) in Mannheim has awarded the Heinz König Young Scholar Award for the fifth time. This year, Carlos D. Santos from Portugal received the research award for his paper about how sunk costs of investments in research and development affect the investment behaviour of a highly competitive industrial sector. Santos is economist and is currently finishing his PhD at the London School of Economics. read more

The Centre for European Economic Research (ZEW) in Mannheim has awarded the Heinz König Young Scholar Award for the fourth time. This year the Portuguese Joao Vareda received the research award. Mr. Vareda is an economist currently finishing his Ph.D in economics at the New University of Lisbon (Universidade Nova). He received the Heinz König Young Scholar Award for a paper on how the obligation of former monopolists in telecommunication markets to grant their competitors access to the network infrastructure affects the former monopolists’ investment behaviour. read more
